Anyone who, during an armed conflict, physically mistreats or seriously endangers the life, health, or physical integrity of any protected person, subjects them to torture or inhuman treatment, including biological experiments, causes them great suffering, or subjects them to any medical act not indicated by their state of health or in accordance with generally recognized medical standards that the Party responsible for the act would apply, in similar medical circumstances, to its own nationals not deprived of their liberty, shall be punished with imprisonment for four to eight years, without prejudice to any penalty that may be imposed for the resulting harm.
