1. Those who assault, or with serious intimidation or violence, seriously resist, or attack an authority figure, its agents, or public officials while they are carrying out their official duties or in connection with them, shall be guilty of assault. In any case, acts committed against teaching or healthcare professionals while they are carrying out their official duties or in connection with them shall be considered acts of assault.
2. Assaults shall be punished with imprisonment for one to four years and a fine of three to six months if the assault is against an authority figure, and with imprisonment for six months to three years in all other cases.
3. Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, if the authority against whom the attack is made is a member of the Government, of the Governing Councils of the Autonomous Communities, of the Congress of Deputies, of the Senate or of the Legislative Assemblies of the Autonomous Communities, of the local Corporations, of the General Council of the Judiciary, Magistrate of the Constitutional Court, judge, magistrate or member of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the penalty of imprisonment of one to six years and a fine of six to twelve months shall be imposed.
