1. Anyone who causes damage to property of historical, artistic, scientific, cultural, or monumental value, or to archaeological sites, whether on land or underwater, shall be punished with imprisonment for six months to three years or a fine of twelve to twenty-four months. Acts of looting at the latter sites shall be punished with the same penalty.
2. If the damage caused is of particular severity or affects property of especially significant historical, artistic, scientific, cultural, or monumental value, the penalty may be increased by one degree from that specified in the preceding paragraph.
3. In all these cases, the courts may order the perpetrator to take measures to restore the damaged property, to the extent possible, at their own expense.
