1. Anyone who, for a purpose other than the elimination or reduction of serious defects or diseases, manipulates human genes in a way that alters the genotype, shall be punished with imprisonment for two to six years and special disqualification from public employment or office, profession, or trade for seven to ten years.

2. If the alteration of the genotype is carried out through gross negligence, the penalty shall be a fine of six to fifteen months and special disqualification from public employment or office, profession, or trade for one to three years.
